2008 Fishing
Report -
Watauga Trophy Section
The sulfurs have arrived in full force during mid afternoon
and evening hours. We have fished sulfur nymphs and wet
flies prior to the hatch with great success, especially
during dropping water. Plenty of dry fly action is available
all day, with the best action coming during the height of
the hatch during early evening. Size 16 compara duns and
parachutes have worked well. The midges are very abundant
during the morning hours, especially over sandy bottoms.
Lightweight nymph rigs dead drifted through hatching midge
clusters has been the most consistent bite. Stripping midges
through still water is catching some of the nicer browns.
